Drive tray for 2.5" sas in t310

Hi

I have the blue drive trays (390 790) in my t310. These are fine for 5.25" sas hdds but too big for 2.5" the smaller hdds just fall out.

So far all the brackets ive tried dont fit the bays.

Is there a proper solution or bracket to put the smaller drives in this server please?

Regards

Graham

Might I suggest 9W8C4? If you look on Amazon, they are priced very low. The issue here is that I dont know if it will absolutely work in that plastic carrier, but I cant see why it wouldnt. 9W8C4 is designed to replace a 3.5 inch drive in our metal drive carriers, and since the carrier in your picture is designed to hold a 3.5 inch drive, I would think it would be ok. Worst case, you can send it back to Amazon. Just a thought.

Hello,

We do have brackets used to adapt the larger drive trays to hold the smaller disks. However, this has historically not been an orderable part from the support side. You might consider contacting Sales and speaking with the Spare Parts team to see if they may be able to help you obtain one. Im not sure if they would have a SKU or not, but this is the next step I would take.

Hi. The dell part number r494d keeps cropping up.

Is this the adapter i need to put a 2.5" disk into a 3.5" blue drive tray. If a r494d is the right part does it replace the blue tray shown or does the r494d fit inside it

That part may fit the server, but is not validated or listed as compatible. The only systems showing compatibility with this part are Precision and Optiplex systems.

The disk carrier list shows no plastic adapters to adapt for different disk sizes. I would have to recommend you speak with Sales to see if they can offer you something else, or potentially 3D print something.
