External SCSI enclosure as RAID

I have an IBM external SCSI drive enclosure (10 drives) that I would like to be able to recognize as a RAID array on a Dell 1850 server.  Right now I have it connected using an Adaptec SCSI card, and it recognizes fine.  I can give individual drive letters and use the drives like that, but I would like to be able to use it as a RAID array.  Is this possible on this server, and if so how?

Hi, izzit Adaptec SCSI card for external TBU connectivity ?

Normally normal SCSI card are use to connect to external TBU ( Tape Backup Unit )

If yo were to connect and configure as RAID, you must purchased the RAID controller card, either from Adaptec or LSI logic. To confirm whether it works, please check with DELL Tech Support for the compatibiliy issues.

Cheers..

It is an Adaptec 39160 SCSI card.  There does not appear to be an internal plug to connect any cards to the RAID controller or motherboard.  The Dells that I have all have internal RAID controllers if that matters.
