Hi, I have several PowerEdge R720 servers with PERC H710P and H710P Mini (embedded) controllers that are having issues. According to omreport, the controller is in a non-critical status and a degraded status:

I had found a previous thread that suggested updating the firmware, but I cannot find a newer firmware version for the controllers (embedded or additional).

If it makes a difference, all servers are running RHEL 6.6 (Santiago)

Lachlandehaas,

I believe you are correct in assuming the issue is caused by the firmware being out of date. The firmware actually is a couple updates behind. You can find the current version of the update here. Update the fw on the controller and let me know if the VD shows ONLINE afterwards.

Let me know what you see

Hi Chris,

Thanks for that, I'll schedule some downtime for one of the servers and try it out. I did try to find a newer firmware version, but couldn't - is there an easy way to always find the latest firmware version?

Thanks

I've downloaded the firmware for the controller, as well as for the embedded controller, and installed both. Controller 1 (PERC H710P Adapter) is now showing status as 'Ok' and the state is 'Ready', but controller 0 (PERC H710P Mini) still has a state of 'Degraded' and status is 'Non-Critical', but it does show the new firmware in omreport storage controller:

Controller

ID                                : 0

Status                            : Non-Critical

Name                              : PERC H710P Mini

Slot ID                           : Embedded

State                             : Degraded

Firmware Version                  : 21.3.0-0009

Is there an even newer version of the firmware for the embedded controller I should be looking for?

I've actually found a new firmware for the embedded controller, which has fixed that issue.

Now remains the issue of how do I find the latest firmware version, without having to resort to trial and error guessing the new firmware version number? (Which is how I found the new firmware for the embedded controller!)
