Hard Drive capacity limit on RAID Control SAS1068e with Dell PE T310.

Dear All,

Kindly clarify the limitations on RAID Controller - SAS1068e on Dell PowerEdge T310.

I'm sure it just supports RAID 0 and RAID 1.

My concern is about, Maximum Hard Drive size each allowed?

If I use RAID 1, and installed 4 Hard Drives, do I still need to consider any limitations overall, even after complying with each Hard Drive size?

Thanks!

Hi, thanks for your question.
I believe you are referring to Dell SAS 6/iR, here's its specification that can guide you. (The table on page #2, Maximum size of a virtual disk)

Yes, it is Dell SAS 6/iR.

If I understand properly, it allows:

  • 2 TB each physical disk
  • 2 TB as each Virtual Disk
  • Since I have 4 connectors on this RAID Controller, I can connect 4 x 2 TB Hard Drives and can create 2 RAID Arrays with RAID 1, so in total I will get 2 x 2 TB Virtual Disks usable.

I'm not good at server, please confirm or correct me @DELL-Young E
