Help needed installing Seagate STD2401LW tape unit in Poweredge 2400
Hi,
I apologise in advance for any stupid questions caused by my lack of knowledge about SCSI.
I want to add a Certance (Seagate) Dat drive to my Poweredge 2400, but I'm unsure of the best way to do it.
In the Service Manual downloaded from Dell, it lists the following 2 SCSI connectors:
Ultra2/Narrow SCSI controller
50-pin connector for internal SCSI CD-ROM drive or optional tape backup units
Ultra2/LVD SCSI controller
68-pin connector for internal SCSI drives
Because I have a 6x backplane for my hard disks, controlled by a Perc 2/DC Raid card, the 68-pin connector on the motherboard is free. Can I use this connector or should I connect the tape unit to one of the spare connectors on the 50-pin ribbon cable (and if so, how, bearing in mind the tape unit has a 68-pin SCSI connector).
Hope someone can make sense of this gibberish.
Thanks
