How to connect Drive with existing OS on H710 Raid Controler

I trying to add an SSD drive that already has an OS (Windows Server 2012) on a PowerEdge R820 with an H710 Raid controller. on other controllers we had the option to set it as a JBOD drive and the BIOS would see it and boot. But on this controller I don't see that option. I tried setting it up as a Raid 0 without initializing but the light flashes orange and it is not seen. I know the OS is still on there (I put it back in the original server and it works)

Any idea?

Thanks so much for your timely response.

Yes it flashes Orange when it starts the "Initializing Firmware Interfaces".

I just booted with a utility and was able to see the drive content. So I think you are right it's the boot issue...

I think I figured it out. It's because it's a UEFI boot hard drive and R820 is not capable of booting UEFI? Could you please confirm if it is or not?

Are there any firmware/BIOS that would make it UEFI bootable?

Hello

It is unlikely that it will work. You can try repairing the operating system after you create the RAID 0. You may be able to fix any corruption that occurs.

When you create the RAID 0 the drive should go to an online state with a green light. If the drive is producing an error and does not go to an online state then the controller is having issues writing the metadata that defines the virtual disk to the drive. If that is the case then hardware in the RAID chain is either faulty or not compatible.

It is capable of UEFI boot mode. You can select the boot mode in the system BIOS. If you have issues locating the option you can review BIOS options in the manual on the system support page.

I guess I am giving in and headed a different direction.  The H710P is not compatible with a B560M chipset. I need to get this thing up and running. Thanks.
