Installing PERC H310 drivers during Windows 2008 R2 SP2 installation
Hello Support,
I'm installing a 32 bit version of Windows 2008 on a new Dell R320 that came with on OS from the factory.
My problem started the same as with the thread below, in that I couldn't get the drivers because the only driver download on the product pages will only run on a Windows 2008 machine. Since I haven't installed the OS, I was stuck in a Catch 22 where I couldn't get to the drivers.
http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/servers/f/1466/t/19595615
Following the links in the tread above, I have what may or may not be the correct drivers in Zip format that I could extract on another machine. When I try to install them during the Windows 2008 installation I get this error:
"The Perc H310 Mini driver 5.5.5.a02\percsas2.inf device driver could not be installed. Contact support for updated driver".
I also tried a Version 6 driver, but got the same problem.
I have created a RAID 5 virtual drive using the H310 Ctrl-R bios interface. Is there any other bios level configuration that needs to be completed before the Windows installers can see the drives?
Thank you,
h2o

Mfybireport,
The driver you are looking for should be this one - http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=H9W18&fileId=3389728669&osCode=WLHS1&productCode=poweredge-r320&languageCode=EN&categoryId=SF
Is that one of the drivers you have tried? Also, are you booting to the lLifecycle Controller for the OS deployment or are you just booting to the media? Have you tried the other?
Let me know.

Hello Chris,
Thank you for the reply. The link you provide is one option that I've tried, but that version puts me into the Catch 22. The .exe that downloads will only run on Windows 2008. Until I install the OS on our new Del box, I don't have a Windows 2008 machine on which to run the download.
I have not tried booting to the lLifecycle Controller. So far, I'm just using Window 2008 install disk to install the OS.
I can't boot yet, I haven't even installed Windows 2008.

Use this version of the driver:
http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER01968993M/31/SAS-RAID_Driver_X86_H9W18_6.802.19.0_A05_ZPE.exe
Download and run it on any Windows system to extract the contents, then copy the files to USB or CD for use on the Load Drivers screen during the installation.

Thank you Flash, this set worked perfectly. I'm on to the next steps of installing Windows.
