Major disk performance problem - T640 - H730P
Hello,
I recently installed W2019 on a T640 server (without any hypervisor).
Controller is a H730P-2GB, with 4 Dell 600GB SAS disks RAID-5.
All firmwares and Windows updates have been installed :
- H730P driver : 6.604.6.0 (no update found on Dell support for W2019)
- H730P firmware : 25.5.8.0001
- H730P Storport : 10.0.17763.1192
- iDRAC : 4.40.00 (Build 47)
Write performance is OK, but read performance is very low (about 500 KB/sec).
Do you have any idea to solve this problem ?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi, what I could think of is that you may test around changing
Virtual disk read cache policies since server performance can vary depending on each site.

FEATURE
DESCRIPTION
Read Ahead
Allows the controller to read sequentially ahead of requested data and to store the additional data in cache memory, anticipating that the data is required soon. This speeds up reads for sequential data, but there is slight improvement when accessing random data.
No Read Ahead
Disables the Read Ahead capability.
Adaptive Read Ahead
Adaptive read ahead is no longer supported. Selecting adaptive read ahead is equivalent to selecting Read Ahead option.

OK, problem found and solved.
The bottleneck was... the network adapter !
Local transfert was OK, but NW transfert very very slow...
