Modify VDisk ID

Hello all,

I need to modify the ID of an existing VDisk, from ID=2 to ID=1. I've no problems about business continuity so if needed I can turn off the server and leave it offline for nearly a week.
Even if I have a backup copy of the VDisk content, I would like to modify the ID without loosing data on the existing VDisk.
My controller is PERC H710.

I've some questions:
a) Is there a way to solve the problem of modifying the vdisk id by using the OMSA CLI (omconfig)?
b) if not, could I change it using the BIOS utility?
c) if it does not exist an option to modify the ID, is it possible to phisically remove the disks that compose the vdisk, clear the controller configuration related to that vdisk and then re-import the array as foreign, assigning it the different ID

Thank you in advance for support

Svghido,

Unfortunately there is not a way of doing this while maintaining the integrity of the data. You would have to completely delete, recreate, and initialize the Virtual Disks as that is when the Vdsisk ID is bonded. Just importing a foreign will not reassign the Vdisk ID, it will simply restore it to what it was originally assigned as.

Sorry I couldn't give you the answer you wanted.
