Online capacity expension (OCE) with H310 in a Raid1

Hey all :-) Would this be possible?

At the Moment we have 2x1TB HDDs in a Raid 1. So i would first change the HDD A to a 2TB, and make a rebuild of the Raid1… after that i would change the other HDD B also to a 2TB and make another rebuild. When this was successful, i would make the OCE in the Omsa Software.

Could this work?

Hello

It is not listed as possible in the manuals. Reconfigure tasks are covered in both the storage controller manual and the OpenManage Server Administrator storage manual. In the OMSA storage manual the section that covers OCE for a RAID 1 only lists S-series controllers as capable.

Theoretically, I think it will work. If you have spare disks you can test. To test you would create a RAID 1 and not use all of the available space. You would then choose the reconfigure option in OMSA. If OCE is available it will show up as an option when free space is detected on all virtual disk members.

Hi.! Omsa was only my idea... Perhaps it’s possible to make the OCE at another point, in the raid Controller? Or somewhere better location?

OMSA is the only option. You may be able to perform the action via command line using either omconfig or RACADM, but it should have the same options available that the OMSA GUI has. The ability to perform reconfigure operations through the controller BIOS(integrated into the LCC) or iDRAC web GUI is a feature added in later generations. I think it was first introduced in PERC 9 or 10, the H310 is PERC 8.
