PowerEdge R410 - degraded virtual disk!

Hi all...

I'm kinda new at servers and I thought I'd post my predicament here before I call in the big guns :-)

I just recently noticed that during boot up of our server, our RAID1 is listed as degraded:

Upon entering the PERC S100 setup (Ctrl-R) I can see that the Virtual disk is degraded and not any of the physical disks.

I have run tests on the physical disks and they come back fine.

So, I guess my question is:  How can I remove this degraded status?  Is it simply stating that it's degraded because it's no longer mirroring to the second physical disk or is there actually something wrong with the physical disk?

Hello.

I see that one of the Physical Drives is in a "READY" state. Ensure that you have backup of your data and assign this drive as a Global Hot Spare.

Correct.

Let me know whether it helps you.

And would I do that by selecting Execute in the screenshot below?

Will do.  One more question: once I click execute, will I need to restart the server?

Thanks a bunch for you willingness to help :-)

Hello.

Server re-start is not necessary. Simply check the status of the VD  using Ctrl+R utility and clear any other event logs within OMSA.
