Dear Cahrles,

thanks for you reply, but I alredy know that the PERC 6/i was never built in or sold with a T320.

Our former Admin equiped the T320 with that PERC 6/i. So is there a solution to update the firmware of the PERC 6/i in a T320 or not?

Or is there any other solution to view the health state of the physical disks in the web interface of ESXi 6.5 or OpenManage Enterprise?

From the Dell side; we have not validated the PERC6/I in the T320. I understand you say it has worked, it's just unsupported from Dell.  Maybe someone in the community has tried it and can share their experience.

You may try updating the PREC firmware using the LifeCycle Controller. Looking at your first post you may have tried this already.

Start Lifecycle Controller by pressing at system start.

In the left pane, click Firmware Update.

In the right pane, click Launch Firmware Update.

Choose: Local Drive (CD, DVD, or USB) > Supply the Windows .exe file for update.

You should be able to view the physical disks with:

Controller BIOS in POST

the iDRAC

 or OpenManage Server Administrator would be good to use.

You may have to find an earlier server like a T310 to update the firmware.

Dell has not validated it for the T320 so unfortunately I don't have any guidance for using it on an unsupported system.

It looks like you are using the PERC 6/I Integrated firmware.

The second error looks promising, because its not incompatibility. It says that the component (the perc i guess) is not in the target system inventory. So how do I get the PERC into inventory?

thanks again. Basically I know how to update Firmware. I tried via Lifecycle Controller and provided all 3 Perc 6/i ofirmware versions that I was able to find at Dell support site. The files ar the following:

I tried via USB Stick (FAT32) and via virtual ISO, both geve me the following error:

So I am still clueless how to update the firmware...

Make sure you have Collect System Inventory on Restart (CSIOR) enabled:

-boot to F2 -> System Setup -> iDRAC Settings -> Lifecycle Controller to check status

-Choose: Lifecycle Controller set to Enabled

-Collect System Inventory on Restart set to Enabled.

Thanks Charles, CSIOR was already enabled. The Lifecycle Controller does recognize the PERC 6/i (so I guess it is in the inventory), but there is no way to update the firmware...

Well, no chance I guess...

I found out a workaround. All I want is to check the health of the physical disks. So I installed OMSA and voila there they are. Unfortunatly OMSA logs me out after some minutes (Version 9.4.0). Is there any possibility e.g. in registry or some xsl file (I already managed to pre-populate the targetmachine field there) to set the login time to infinite?
