PowerEdge r710 failed drive will not rebuild
We have a PowerEdge r710 that is showing a drive as being offline. I have replaced the drive and its starts to rebuild then stops. I have tried 2 different new drives and still no success. The server is running 2008 and the drives are in a raid 5 configuration. Any ideas on how to get the drive to rebuild without loosing any data?

Jweiss4,
When you are adding the replacement drive, what does the controller bios or Open Manage show for the drives status when it is supposed to be rebuilding? What is the array status showing as?
Also, what is the driver and firmware version on the controller? If it is out of date it can cause issues as well.
Let me know what you find out.

The controller is out of date, not drastically but still both are out. Would you run these 2 updates and then try the rebuild again?

Chris
I installed the updates, then tried rebuilding from the bios and the drive will still not rebuild. This morning drive 1 stated foreign, and drive 5 stated offline.
