Poweredge 2900 not booting Foreign drives

Hi. Support

We made the mistake of removing a hot swap drive as it was flashing amber to check the spec of the drive which then forced the server to reboot. We inserted the drive back but the server will not start saying 1 logical drive found and 1 failed. When we inspect the raid config it identifies that drive 0:2 and 0:3 are foreign/ready however drives 0:0, 0:1,  0:4 and 0:5 are online.

Can you give any advise on recovery from this issue

LWilkinson,

Could you confirm the controller installed as well as what Raid level this is (Raid 1, 5, 6, 10). If this is a Perc 5/i or 6/i then you should be able to boot to the raid controller BIOS (Ctrl-R at prompt) then highlight the controller group with the foreign and then hit F2, you will then see Foreign Config. Select that and then from there you will need to IMPORT the Foreign Configuration. After that is complete then see if the server will boot normally.

Let me know how it goes.
