Poweredge 400SC and Sata
Before I order a new Sata drive, does anyone know whether there is a maximum capacity that will work with the PE 400SC?

Though I don't think I ever tried anything bigger than 500GB on my 400SC, this system uses the Intel 875P chipset and it's integrated SATA controllers. I don't think this chipset has a limit to it's disk size.

Sorry I really dont know. I have managed to add 1.5TB Sata drive though without any issues.

Will a SATA 3 solid state drive work with the SATA 1 port in the 400SC? I am in the same boat you were.

The only drive size that may be an issue (now (not when I replied back in January 2010)) is drives over 2TB. SSD will probably work just fine, but you may not be able to get optimal performance out of the SSD due to the age of the system.
There are obviously no guarantees though.
