Poweredge T410 & perc h710p
This server was purchased stock without RAID. I am trying to add RAID 5.
I have bought a PERC h710p controller and 2 more drives. When my documentation stated that my chasis was pre-cabled - I thought that is what it meant but apparently that is not the case. I believe I am missing a cable or two and possibly some other important pieces here. :-)
Here is what I have:
- T420
- perc h710p Raid Controller 1GB NV Cache DPN 07GcGT
What I need is:
- Installing RAID in your server for Dummies? :-)
- What am I missing? What are the connections? The cables currently in the system will not plug in.
- Do I need more hardware or am I just missing a cable?
Attached is a picture of the server with card installed...
thanks!

Realized I put T410 in the subject - meant T420. I don't see a way to edit the post... sorry about that.

These are the type cable you need, you would need to verify if these are compatible, length is OK....

From my unsuccessful attempt, the X394K cable actually doesn't appear to be the right one. It has a 12-pin "P3A" power cable that the T410 has nowhere to connect. I suspect that cable is for the R410 only. See here:

Since you do not have a backplane you will need
Dell Part # XP00F - ASSY,CBL,MB,HD,SAS A,R420/R320 - Mini SAS & ODD power cable, MB (SAS A) to HDD (used with cable HDD).

This cable will have connectors SAS/SATA and power connectors that plug straight into your hard drives
