Problem with Perc 6/i and modern Seagate SAS drive
Hello everyone. I have some difficulties with a Perc 6/i controller and modern Seagate drives.
My server is a PowerEdge T610 with the bios version 6.0.7. I've bought Seagate Exos 7E8 [ST1000NM001A] 1TB 3.5 HDD SAS drive for replacing in a RAID-1. My Perc 6/i has the bios 6.3.1-0003. Working drive in this RAID-1 is Certified Seagate ST1000NM0023 1TB, bundled with server. There is also an Seagate ST2000DM008-2FR102 SATA drive in RAID-0 for non-critical data.
My problem is unstable work of modern SAS HDD. Controller sometimes lost it during reboot, reports it failed, make it orphan or foreign configuration. I've tried 2 different new drives with the same result.
Did you have any ideas about this issues? Thank for your help.

Hello @tushka007,
I am not able to find the Dell Part Number for the Seagate Exos 7E8 [ST1000NM001A] so my first assumption is that this drive is not a compatible certified drive for the PowerEdge T610 with a PERC 6/i which is a reasonable assuming it's a modern HDD on an 8-9 years old.
I can provide you several Dell Part Numbers for replacement for the current working drive ST1000NM0023. Like GPP3G, YGG39, U738K, 0V8G9, 7KXJR, 740YX, 440RW, M7D8Y
If you can find any of this drives will be fully compatible with your server.
Regards.
