R440 - S140 - Right NVMe drives
Hello,
I want to create a RAID 10 with 4 NVMe drives on an R440 with S140.
what are the supported drived specifically? What models? I require 4 TB each one.
PCIe NVMe M.2 drives.
For example this is compatible?
westerndigital.com/products/internal-drives/wd-blue-sn550-nvme-ssd#WDS500G2B0C
or this one?
Kingston SNVS/2000G NV1 2TB M.2 2280 NVMe PCIe Internal SSD Up to 2100 MB/s
Thank you very much

Only R440 with 10 drive chassis support NVMe drives. System need to be cables as shown in "Figure 2. Cable routing - 10 x 2.5 hard drive backplane with NVMe" of below link for NVMe drive support. M.2 NVMe drives are not supported on R440

Below are the 4TB NVMe drives supported on R440

Hi, only U.2 will work, not M.2. It has to have a backplane.

Hi, that's correct.
"What is the U.2 interface?U.2 (pronounced 'u-dot-2'), formerly known as SFF-8639, is a computer interface standard for connecting solid-state drives (SSDs) to a computer. It covers the physical connector, electrical characteristics, and communication protocols."

Hello
Thank you guys for your replies.
So I only have to use those intel NVMe u.2 drives from those series, but then I won't be able to use Samsung, WB or other brand drives that are NVMe u.2?

Hello,
Thanks for your reply.
What would happen then if I use other NVMe u.2 drives from a brand other than Intel? eg Samsung or WB?

We're not sure. We are not sure if the S140 controller will recognize. Becuase if you don't use a Dell firmware, there seems to be a issue with recognition.
