R510 with H700 & H800

As the title says, I have an R510 with an H700 (512MB) and H800 (1GB).  In this configuration it works no issues, no errors.  When I upgrade the 512 DIMM to a 1GB DIMM I get a battery error in iDRAC but OMSA says batteries are fine.  Orange light flashes on R510 as well.  I thought maybe the DIMM upgrade was bad since it was 2nd hand off ebay.  Put the 512MB back on the H700, put the new 1GB DIMM in the H800, no issues, battery error goes away and the H800 is fine with the new DIMM.

The question I have is should I put an H800 battery on the H700 (yes, the physical battery is the same, but the plastic holder is different between the 2) with the short cable connecting the DIMM to an onboard battery?  I'm not sure what else to do at this point to try to make this work.

Hi,

I check our documentation and it is not designed to upgrade the memory module.

Did you have any other questions?

Hi,

it could work but is not be supported by us because it is not designed for this.

We replace the whole card including the memory module if you had any failures with the H700.

So I could only offer you that you do a whole unit replacement for the PERC.

Your local support team could provide you a replacement for in-warranty or offer for out of warranty systems.

this link seems to say that the non-modular, if I can find the Dell dimm (which I have) is swappable.

either way, if I had say an h700 1gb and an h800 1gb exhibiting this behavior, what would be my troubleshooting steps then?

Thanks
