R820 and SAS-3 12G/s

Question

Hi,

I have a R820 server with PERC H710 with 6Gbs transfer rate.

In other hand I have SAS SSD Drives with 12GBs that I want use.

I read somewhere that is possible to make an "upgrade" by adding HPE H240 to the R820. So it wil support SAS3.

I asked a Dell parts reseller, he told me that Dell part numbers T93GD (Low profile) will work.

I want to ask community members with they think.

The T93GD is

the 12G SAS HBA which is only supportet in 12/13 Gen servers
Its a 12G SAS HBA with EXTERNAL ports not a single internal on. If you speak about having "some Disks" where you wanna place them?
Your existing PERC have Cache and Battery and the 12G SAS HBA not
The 12G SAS HBA is Passtrough HBA which is normaly to Connect SAS SAN like MD3420, SCv2020/3020 or a JBOD like MD1420 when you wanna see the single drives within your OS (think about SDS)

My aim is to use 12Gbs drives in all 16 bays. Then I will use ESXi 6.5 to virtualize.

Is the T93GD can be the solution? If the answer is no, what can be the alternative?

Hi the parts used in the Youtube clip were

Part #:WFN6R

Part Desc.:PWA,CTL,HBA,9341-8I,FH,LSI

-> and these are for workstations.

Thank you for replying.

When I checked my R820, it seems that it has a expander not direct attached to the card.

The WFN6R has 8 ports, so I will need 16 ports. Do you know a LSI that MAY work?
