RAID using PE 1300's Adaptec AIC-7890?
Is this possible or is the AIC-7890 a RAID-incapable controller? If so, why have a full four hard drive bays in the system?

The Adaptec AIC-7890 embedded on the motherboard of the PowerEdge 1300 is not a RAID capable controller.
There were 3 add-in Raid controllers validated in the PowerEdge 1300, the Perc 2/sc, 2/dc and 2/qc (single, dual and quad channel). These are no longer available new but may be available refurbished from spare parts.
The Perc 3/dc is available new. This controller was not officially validated on the PowerEdge 1300, but I do not see any reason it would not work.
