T320 fans run high when 3rd drive added.
Does anyone know of a IMPI command that can disable the fact that the fans spin up when more that two HDDs are added. Something similar to the command that ENABLE/DISABLE Third-Party PCIe card based default system fan response.

Hi Simon,
Make sure that the BIOS and iDRAC/LCC firmware is up to date. Many times fan speed issues can be resolved by updating to the latest version. Also, thermal settings can be adjusted in the iDRAC. Go to Overview → Hardware → Fans → Setup. See page 55 of iDRAC User Guide. If installed, please check the hardward log in OMSA for any fan or thermal event in the log.

Hi, I also have the same question as the original poster. Has there been any resolution here?
I recently bought a T640, and was very happy with the noise levels. I added some PCIe cards, and the fans went to near full speed. However, I found the setting in iDRAC to disable the LFM mode here, and that solved that issue.
At present, the issue I have is that as soon as I add a couple HDDs, the fans spin up a considerable amount. The middle fans in my case go from about 10% to about 40% as soon as I plug in the three storage HDDs I was going to use in the server. It doesn't sound like a jet engine, but it's noisy enough that I'd like to quiet the fans down if possible. I know the HDDs don't need the extra cooling, as I've checked the temps and they are quite low.
Any suggestions here? Is there a way to turn off HDD compensation in the Dell cooling profile, like there is with PCIe devices?
