Upgrading RAID controller on PowerEdge T610

          This system came with an SAS 6/iR controller and after installing Server 2012 R2 and with 32 GB of RAM it is crawling, probably because we're using software RAID 5. I'd like to upgrade the RAID controller so that I can use hardware RAID 5. Which controllers are compatible with the T610? I know the H710 qualifies, but how about the H710P and the H810? We have a backplane that holds 8 drives. Do we need anything else? I see that some people needed cables as well.

The PERC 6/i and the H700 are validated for the T610. The Hx10 are for 12th generation servers (like T620, T610 is 11G). The H8x0 controllers are for external storage.

Main differences between PERC 6 and H700:

PERC 6 is 3Gbps, 2TB disk max, 256MB cache
PERC H700 is 6Gpbs, +2TB disks, 512MB or 1GB cache/NVRAM cache

@theflash1932

I have a T610 with a H700 RAID controller, but it only sees 698Gb fer disc. I have 4 x 2TB discs in. How do I fix it?

HenriStofberg,

We would need some additional details to answer with any certainty.
Would you clarify how you have the drives configured, such as raid level?

What are the part numbers for the drives?

What OS is installed?

Where are you looking for the drive details, meaning where are you looking to see that it is only 698GB?

Lastly, if you have any screenshots it may also help to provide those.

Let me know what you see.
