What error is in /var/log/messages on failed array?
Hi,
I know that you can use openmanage to monitor dell hardware raids, however I would like to monitor logs to check the status of array.
Can anyone please share the error message that is displayed in /var/log/messages upon a failed or degraded raid array?

I tested this with centos 6.4 to find out what errors would be reported. I created two arrays and offlined drives to put one in a degraded state and one in a failed state. I then used dmesg to find out what errors were reported. I could not find any errors related to failed or degraded. The logs were just full of I/O errors.
I would recommend that you use OpenManage to monitor hardware RAID. Monitoring from the operating system will not be reliable on hardware RAID.
