What is the difference between 0G724 and Y1417 Backplane for Dell PE2650?
I purchased to Dell PE2650 server, one is working well but the other one is not working. The issue, it is not booting up. From the google, most of the answers point to the Backplane. But searching what is the right backplane to this unit is what confuse me. I found this two backplane in the web and it looks like the same and yet one should be the right one. What is the difference between 0G724 and Y1417 Backplane for Dell PE2650? Please help...

It would be easier to get the part number from your backplane, removing it is a 2 min job. Un-seat the disks, remove the cables (label them to be sure). Then pull the blue button and slide the backplace to the right and it will come out.

They are one in the same. Just different part numbers.

I took off the backplane card and it shows 0G724. This means that I should purchase same part number. If I may ask, should I purchase daughter card? My other Dell2650 has it... I was wondering if I need it to in order to make it work.

I will be corrected if i'm wrong :-) The backplane was available in 2 types, 2x3 or 1x6. The 2x3 requires a daughter card to provide scsi services to the 2nd 3 slots. googling the part number shows it as 1x 5/6 so i don't think the daughtercard is required.
