Windows 2003 setup ddoes not recognize HDD in PE840

Hello All,

I hope I'm posting this in the right place...

I have a PowerEdge 840, PERC5, with two HDD. I configure a RAID 1 array in SAS, can see the drives, they are synced, everything looks fine. I got the drivers from Dell Support and they are loaded fine when starting Windows 2003 setup but I always get a message saying Windows couldn't recognize any HDD.

I believe there is something I'm missing regarding the array config or something like that. Anyone has a checklist of what I should look for please?

Unfortunately this is an "inherited" server and the previous SysAdmin didn't leave the original CDs. :(

Thank you very much for any help!

You may want to try downloading the PERC5 driver from support.dell.com, then you will need to press F6 during setup to load the driver.  This should allow setup to see the drive.

Hi Dennis.

Thanks for your reply. Those are the drivers I was referring to when I said I downloaded drivers from Dell Support. Still no luck after loading those drivers with F6 in Windows Setup.

Any ideias? :(
