number of virtual disks per controller
I am in the process of spec'ing out a new server. I my requirements are that the server have a mirror boot drive, another mirror drive and then finally a RAID 10 set of drives for data. I am looking at a 720XD with a h710P card. Will that work with that type of card? thanks.

Yes, it will. The maximum number of VD's is 64, of varying types.
the PERC H710, H710P, and H810 cards support up to 64 virtual disks per controller
