r610 specific drives ?
hello
i have a poweredge r610 that i purchased few days ago
it came with 2 sas 140 gb.
i have 24 sas 600 gb ( st9600205ss ) at my office
so i installed 6 (cause its max) , i was able to find them in perc 6/i but when i try to create a virtual drive all of them go offline for some reason. no error .. nothing.
why i cant use them ? or how can i use them ?
(the st9600205ss were taken from a fujitsu storage server, but they are not labeled fujitsu)

Hi, how about upgrading PERC6/I firmware to the latest?
Version 6.3.3-0002, A-00
https://dell.to/3we4XcS
Also on the PERC6/i ,press Ctrl-R the Virtual Disk Management menu screen displays by default. This screen displays physical disks status. See if it’s offline, if so press F2 to force online.

It doesn't show any error. After i hit force online it hangs for 1/2 minutes and does nothing. Still off-line. Ill try later to update firmware.
Thank you.

Hi,
If the update of the PERC didn't change the behavior of the disks you have to change these disks becauses they are not compatible with the PERC. To be sure to obtain a 100% compatibility, choose a validated disk with Dell firmware.

Hi,
I don't think that would be the issue with 512 sector. But if you can give it a try and works, let us know here.
You may have compatibility issue, as the drive need Dell drive firmware to work in hand with the RAID controller. And there is no way to flash Dell drive firmware into 3rd party drives.
Have you tried installing only 2 drives, and configure with RAID1?
You were saying that the server was purchase with 2 140GB SAS drives, does the drive work when you try creating RAID1?
