1650 OS

I have here a new PowerEdge 1650. The OS supported are NT4 server, 2K server, 2K Advanced server, Linux, and Netware. However, I wish to install XP Pro. Would that be possible? Somebody please advise. Thanks.

Hi,

Dell has not tested nor validated the Windows XP Operating System on any of the PowerEdge Servers.

I do not believe you will have any problems - IF - there are proper drivers included in XP for all the hardware on the PowerEdge 1650.

There will be no drivers for XP available from Dell.

Hi, Mark A

I have tried to install Windows XP on the poweredge SC1600 on the SCsi drive provided, it is not possible as it only support the Server OS.

I added the ide drive with the Windows XP OS, it works, but, there are no drivers for network and Scsi interface drivers, there are no drivers from the XP for such devices, I tried the Server assistant disc and get the necessary drivers.

Then I tried to install windows XP on the Scsi from the existing windows XP, during setup, the reply is some drivers are missing and cannot go further, any idea how to install XP on the Scsi (in my company, I see there is one working with windows 2000)?
