PowerEdge R720 - intrusion detected - chassis is open
I have problems at my PowerEdge R720.
In OME i get the message "Chassis is open" but server is closed.
Maybe there is a Sensor-failure for Intrusion detection.
Where can i find this sensor and how can i check this?
Many thanks!

Peter Haselsberger,
The chassis intrusion switch is embedded on expansion riser 2, as seen below.
Start with verifying if the switch is actually damaged. As installing the server in a rack without the cover installed can actually damage the intrusions sensor.
Let me know what you see.

Turn off the server if applicable and then restart it. At the initial boot screen, press "F2" on the keyboard to access the BIOS setup menu.
Navigate to the "System Security" option using the arrow keys on the keyboard and press "Enter."
Scroll down to the "Chassis Intrusion" option and press the "Space" bar to change the setting from "Enabled" to "Disabled."
Navigate to the "Save/Exit" option using the arrow keys. The server will restart and the intrusion detection changes will take effect immediately.

We just updated and R720 with a new BIOS(2.5.4) and there is no Chassis Intrusion listed now (or I don't see it if there is). Is there another way to do this?

Hi, i have the same issue reported above, i've already replaced the board/chassi intrusion, but , even with the closed chassi it reports it is open, and the fans runs at full speed.
As i've also updated the bios the option to disable the chassi intrusion detection is not available anymore.

Hello,
You have already replaced the board/chassis intrusion, but the problem persists. Additionally, you mentioned that you updated the BIOS and the option to disable the chassis intrusion detection is no longer available.
It has to be false message. Please remove and reseat the lid to the chassis with a focus on ensuring the lid is properly aligned with the chassis with all sides fully “down” in place against the chassis. Please ensure the latch completely closes flush with the lid. For this following steps should be taken
Hope that helps!
