poweredge 2850 64 bits??

Hi I am trying to install vCenter on a PowerEdge 2850 but when I start vCenter it says that it cannot be started:

Failed to start the virtual machine.
This virtual machine is configured for 64-bit guest operating systems. However, 64-bit operation is not possible.
This host does not support Intel VT-x.
For more detailed information, see http://vmware.com/info?id=152.

I like to know if it's possible to run a 64 bit machine on a PowerEdge 2850.

I already updated the BIOS to version A07.

On internet I read some articles where they say that you have to enable VT Virtualization in the bios. but I don't have that option.

I hope someone can tell me what to do.

Greetings Patrick

Patrick,

The 9th generation server were the first servers to support 64bit VM's and virtualization technology. The 2850 unfortunately doesn't. You can install VMware and such, but it won't be functional for virtualization,.

Let me know if this helps.

The 2850 is a 64-bit machine, however, the processors simply do not support VT, which is required for the latest hypervisors and to run 64-bit VM's.  You can use ESXi 3.5, which doesn't require VT, but it will be limited to 32-bit guests.
