FW update on R720

Hi,

I made a boot drive (latest OMSA_live - CentOS 7) for our R720 and copied the latest offline update SUU package.

Until this its fine, it boots, and i can mount the iso file.

But when i start the updater after few minutes it freezes the server -> i can not upgrade it, i tried in gui mode with the -g switch and also in command line mode, both resulted to frozen server.

Any idea what should i try?

Thanks, Robert

Thunderhun,

What you would need to do is access the Lifecycle Controller via F10 at startup. Once there then you can select Platform Update and use the repository to update the server, or you can just use the FTP server. There is a very good walkthrough found here, that can assist you in performing the update.

Let me know how it goes.

Hi,

I don't like updates via lifecycle controller, sometimes it'sd terribly slow.

What I find out, I dropped CentOS7 livedisk and started to use the old CentOS6.5.

If i use "Load to RAM" the suu runs perfect on all of our servers and much faster than Lifecycle controller.
