Hard Disks not found when trying to install Windows Server 2008
Hey guys and gals,
I've spent the last 20 hours trying to solve the problem of not being able to install windows server 2008 r2 on a brand new Dell server.
My configuration is as follows:
Dell PowerEdge R310
4 x 1 TB 7.2K SATA HDD
PERC H700 Raid Controller
I cant even install the drivers i downloaded from the Dell support site because the Windows 2008 Server installer will not recognize them. These drivers include the Raid controller, Intel Chipset, SATA etc.
I've used factory default settings, changed all the Ports from Auto to Off and vica versa, i've put the server in Raid mode and ATA mode with all possibilities but it will will not detect any HD!
Please help, as it is critical for my health, job and sanity.
Best Regards,
Sami L.

You can try this one:
https://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER77211M/1/RAID_DRVR_WIN_R244735.EXE
Or this one:
https://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER03636177M/1/SAS-RAID_Driver_CFHFJ_WN64_6.805.03.00_A09.EXE
The first one is for the H700, the second one is for the H710. The H710 is NOT SUPPORTED on the R710.

And regarding the R310 server with the S100 … turn the S100 OFF (non-RAID) in the BIOS. Don't ever use the S-series controllers, they are garbage. Mirror in the OS.
