PowerEdge T320 gpt windows 2019 install H710 PERC
Dear all,
I have upgraded my t320 poweredge server with 4 SSD 1 TB each drives. I have created 1 VD with 4 TB of storage, VD is active, UEFI is enabled, and during install i am trying to convert the Virtual Drive from MBR into GBT so that 1 VD can be used to run the system. I am getting the following error:
Can anyone help please?
Any suggestions how to force the VD into GPT instead MBR ?
Jacob.

Can't see the message, but if your boot disk is 4TB, you DO NOT NEED to convert it to GPT ... it will do this automatically during the install.

Thanks for your reply. I have 4 SSD total, each one is 1 TB. I have created a VD of 4 TB total and during the instal of Windows Server 2019 when I am getting to the partition table system automatically splts the VD into 2 x 2TB drives making one of them primary. I am assuming issue is with the MBR vs GPT. How do you force the install to go with GPT so that i could have just 1 VD with total 4 TB? if You click on the image I've added You will clearly see the error I am getting.
Thanks in advance for your time!

Please see below, this is what I am getting and I can not change it. This is all one VD but Windows Server Install splits it into 2 x 2 TB each.

I have used diskpart to format the drive with NTFS and created 1 Partition with 4 TB as per below:
Now when going further into the installation i am getting the following error circled in red:
Disk is formatted and set to Gpt as per below. Can anyone tell me why the install isn't working?

Hi jakublgzdarklord,
maybe you need to check if the RAID controller driver are at latest and the firmware too.
It may happen that the controller (for now I don't know which one is installed in your T320) is not able to support the size somehow.
Could you please update your system to the latest:
https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/poweredge-t320/drivers
For this system, we offer Windows Server 2016 as the latest supported os. But those drivers may also work with 2019.
Best regards,
Stefan

That's exactly what you would see if you tried to do this on a non-UEFI-enabled system. Make sure that UEFI Boot Mode is enabled in the System Setup (F2). If it already is, try changing to BIOS, rebooting, changing it back. You could also try clearing the NVRAM using the jumpers on the motherboard (or the factory reset option in BIOS, if you have it). You should have already update the iDRAC, BIOS, and other system firmware before installing Server 2019, but if you have not, do that first.
