Renaming and creating hostname for M610 blades

Hi,

We have a M1000E chassis with some M610 blades in it that has been relocated from another country and I want to rename the hostname of the individual blade servers. Can someone point me in the right direction please? (I don't want to go down the route of naming the slots on the chassis.)

Burdockman,

What you will need to do is access the iDrac (Ctrl-E prompt on startup).

Once there select  LAN Parameters and then iDRAC6 Name.

Set the name, I would suggest leaving the idrac in the hostname to keep from possibly conflicting with the name on the OS.

After setting the name you need to set Register iDrac6 Name to On.

After that then the CMC should show the modified hostnames.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks a million for that. That worked a treat. I had to reboot a 2nd time before it showed up on the CMC. It's a pain that you have to get into the iDrac to do this as the server is then down for a period of time. Thanks again for your help.
