SBS 2003 (Not R2) Media missing

Hi All

I purchased SBS 2003 Premium, pre-installed on a poweredge 1600 in Dec 2004. Up till now all has been working fine.

I  recently had problems with sharepoint, so decided to /remove/reinstall as per KB 829114.
I was asked to insert SBS disk 3 & this is where my problems began!!!

I have the following four CDs

Operating system disc 1 0f 4
Operating system disc 2 of 4
Application: MS office (outlook 2003 I believe) & Frontpage 2003
Application: Premium edition technolgies (ISA 200 & SQL server 2000)

The system came pre-installed by DELL so I never needed to use these discs until now!

I suspect I'm missing Operating system discs 3 & 4.

When I contacted DELL they initially said they could send me a replacement media set, but then revised that statement to declare that they only had SBS 2003 R2 which wouldn't work for my installation, due to different licence key structure. They suggested I contact Microsoft.

Microsoft said that said that since the software was OEM, DELL, would have to support it.

Now I'm stuck!. Can anyone advise where I could get copies of the media (discs 3 & 4) (Physical CDs or downlaodable iso images). I dont believe that Iwould be contravening any EULA by obtaining these.

Regards
Chris Johnson

I can try to create ISO's of my disks for you.
Do you have an FTP server I can dump them to?

Thanks for your reply  Murr: I appreciate your time & your offer of help. :smileyhappy:

I don't have any FTP capability via my ISP.
If you would by kind enough to create the iso files, I could either:

1.   Set my SBS box temporarily as an FTP server. (I haven't done this before though)
2.   Re-imburse you for costs of CD burning & postage

Do you have an FTP server capability?

Check your Private messages, and e-mail me.
I have Disk 3 in to an ISO and on my FTP server.
You can download it from there.

I know you have Disk 1 & Disk 2, and I will get you Disk 3.
The only other Disks I have are FrontPage 2003, Outlook 2003, "Premium Technologies" (Like you mentioned), and Entourage (the MAC "Outlook" for SBS).

I don't knwo for sure, but I don't think there is a Disk 4.

Many thanks to Murr who helped me out here.

Replacement discs now safely stored in the fire safe & my sharepoint service reinstalled!   :smileyvery-happy:

Hi!

I have a DELL PowerEdge SC420 server which was bought with SBS 2003 STD (+5CAL). I recently moved out of the office, and realized that the installation media for this server vas lost. DELL support has informed me that this installation media is no longer available, and I am now stuck with a server without OS.

In my desperate hunt for replacement for my OS disks, I stumbled upon this old post.

Du you still have this disk set, Murr? Would there be any chance that you could make ISO images of these disks available to me? I can document my CAO/license, the service tag, if you wish.

Thank you

Hello Mr Lund,

Kind of funny, but I just received a Poweredge SC420 from a friend in the UK and he was used SBS 2003 as a Web server.  There is an operating system on it, but there is also no media for this machine.  Have you any experience with nLite?  What I wanted to do is create an image from the existing operating system and burn this to a CD. The problem with this is that OEM software cannot be used for this process to my knowledge.  Otherwise I would create such an image and send it to you. You would have to burn it your own CD and then install it.  Don't know though whether this will work!

Hi Roger!

Thanks for your answer. Seems that I am not the only one missing this media ;-)

Today, I have also placed an order for the replacement media using this information:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/326246?p=1

I used this link:

"Media replacement for users of system builders' computers. If you purchased your software from a system builder who is no longer in business, click the link for your region in the following list:", since DELL has confirmed to me that they are no longer able to proved the installation media.

I will update you if I receive these disks from Microsoft.

Hello Oyvind !

Thank you very much for the info about reordering, will give it a shot and see whether Microsoft can still provide this media!  What the torrent concerns, my feeling tells me to stay away from it ! But thank you for the pointer and I wish you luck too with Microsoft !

Have a great day!

Roger
