Windows Server 2008 R2 or server 2012 OS install
Hello;
I have been trying to install Windows Server 2012, Storage Server Enterprise on a Dell PowerEdge T110, for the last month. I cannot seem to get a proper driver CD / DVD created. When the OS install gets to the place where it wants a driver CD and I insert it,, it cannot see any files or the correct files its looking for,, I don't know if its because they are not the ones the install is looking for,, or they are in a format it doesn't like or what.
I have downloaded from the Dell website drivers for SAS Raid for the PERC S100 controller (for Windows 2008 R2,, there are none for Windows 2012?) and extraced them and put them on the CD, the install doesn't see them? or maybe its looking for graphic card drivers or something else,, I cannot tell which one its looking for??
I have also tried to install Windows Server 2008 R2 but get stuck at the very same spot in the install process. I do not have the original Drivers CD that came with the server, it seems that is the very first thing that grows legs and walks off.
Its been a couple years since I have had to install a new OS (newer than Windows Server 2008),, maybe I am doing something incorrectly.
I have nothing external connected to the server other than a USB mouse and keyboard, and monitor.
I could use a little guidance getting the proper driver CD that will work for either 2008 R2 or better yet 2012 install.
We had been using this as a backup Active Directory Domain Controller,, untill it started into a repetitive reboot and never stops and has no errors that I can see.

Hello thecoop1966
Our system build and update utility disc will load the necessary drivers. Download the ISO and burn it to a CD or DVD. Boot to it and follow the on-screen instructions to load the operating system:
Let me know if you have any issues with it.
Thanks

Thanx Daniel,, this is exactly what I need,,, , except when I run this it doesn't have the OS (2012) installation choice, although the download link compatibility shows this utility is compatible with Windows Server 2012??
Not sure how to proceed?

Here is how I would suggest proceeding:
1. Select 2008R2 as the OS and see if it will work. If it won't work then it will give an error that invalid media was inserted when it tells you to insert the OS DVD.
2. Re-burn the OS DVD. The missing driver error is a known issue with OS DVDs. Burn it at a slower speed and select Disk At Once(DAO) instead of session at once(SAO) or track at once(TAO). After re-burning it then boot directly to the 2012 DVD and try the install again.
3. Update the LCC driver pack to version 7.1.1 You can boot to the LCE/LCC(F10) and choose platform update. Have it update by network and it should direct to ftp.dell.com. Make sure your network options in the iDRAC are configured or it will give network errors. If you have the BMC and not the iDRAC then the LCC may not be an option.
After the LCC is updated then choose the OS installation option.
If none of that works let me know and I'll think of something else.
Thanks

Adding more info here :
Win2012 x64 OS installation isnt supported by system build and update utility on a Server with S100 (Software RAID). This is insync with the latest release that is bound to happen for Open manage.
But Win2008 R2 is supported to be installed on a Server with S100, for the already released version of system build and update utility (OM 7.1 / OM 7.0). Could you pls confirm if Win 2008R2 Sp1 is the unable to install with the provided System build and update utility DVD along with the server.
Thanks
