Windows Server 2008 + VMWare vSphere Hypervisor

I'm considering to purchase PowerEdge T110 server. It may come with Windows Server 2008 R2+5 cals.

I will need to install several virtual machines, and thinking about first installing free VMWare vSphere Hypervisor, and then install Windows Server 2008R2 as one of the virtual machines.

My concern is whether it will be possible to do this with the Windows Server version (OEM? Retail?) that Dell offers in the package?

Yes, you can do this with either version. The OEM version comes with a virtual key you can use for installation on a VM. A retail copy can use the regular Product Key for either installation. Here are detailed instructions for installing on a VM using the virtual key:
