vSphere 6 and VRTX

When will Dell suport vSphere 6 on the VRTX. The only thing seeming to be held back is the Shared Perc 8 HBA.

I tried using the older megaraid driver from 5.5 and 5.1 but get a segmentation fault on boot.

Dell posts custom images in dell.com/support only. These images are currently not made available at vmware.com.

Please refer below links,

ESXi 5.5 – http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=YGH6K

ESXi 6.0 – http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=HJFY8

For the other query on VRTX Support, ESXi 6.0 is currently not supported on VRTX. This support is expected with an upcoming update release and we will notify this thread once the image is posted.

Stay tuned and thank you for your patience

Hi,

We do not have a release date for it. You can set an update notification on the drivers page for Vmware and enterprise solutions and when an update comes out you will be emailed. http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/poweredge-m620p/drivers

I agree I just upgraded my VRTX and the host I started with crashed at boot after the installation.. I am hoping to get this update since HP is releasing there custom 6.0 already on March 28th.  I have a M520 and upon boot after upgrade...

I can see this enablement is targeted for ~June this year which is around Q2 time frame.

  • Dell PowerEdge VRTX is currently not enabled for ESXi6.0 as Shared PERC driver is not yet available for ESXi6.0. Tentative schedule for VRTX support on ESXi6.0 would be June 2015.

We are also waiting for an answer. We are now 2 full weeks into June with NOTHING from Dell that could be considered useful.

For the record HP released their ESXi 6.0 ISO on day one and according to VMware's own download page EVERY OTHER OEM HAS A CUSTOM ISO EXCEPT DELL!!!

Not only is this embarrassing for Dell but it will result in lost sales. I have zero reasons to buy any more Dell equipment for virtualisation projects where actual hardware support is to be considered a priority.

Now 25th June and Still nothing.

i have 1 week left on site to get this upgrade done and so far im having to tell the customer that DELL are the problem not VMware.

Thursday 2nd July is the last date i have to perform the upgrade so you have 1 week Dell.

Hello Gobind V

I have downloaded the ESX image and have flashed the image over the original ESX 6 from Vmware.

I have looked around the internet for a guide to setup the shared storage but I am unable to find one.

There's a video in youtube to setup the shared storage on windows server but the drives obtained does not match.

Please advice me.

Thank you.

You use the VRTX CMC web interface to setup the storage and present the LUNs to the ESXi hosts.
