Does PowerMaxOS send command to SSD drive to collect wear information?

I read that PowerMaxOS periodically collects wear information from SSD drives.

As mentioned below in PowerMax brochure:

"PowerMaxOS Flash Drive Endurance Monitoring – The nature of flash drives is that their NAND flash cells can be written to a finite number of times. This is referred to as flash drive endurance and is reported by drive firmware as a “percentage of life used”. PowerMaxOS periodically collects and monitors this information and uses it to trigger alerts back to Dell EMC Customer Support when a particular drive is nearing its end of useful life."

Does this mean PowerMaxOS periodically sends a command to each SSD drive to collect wear information or each drive periodically sends its wear information without receiving any command from the PowerMaxOS?

The method of data collection for write endurance is not published milotic91. What the Brochure information means is that write endurance is under management. You don't need to worry that you will have SSD issues due to drives exceeding their write wear limit.
