Can EMC PowerPath and RHEL 5.6 dm-mpio co-exist on same RHEL platform?
We have a RHEL 5.6 server connected to a VMAX with EMC PowerPath. We need to zone this same server to an HP 3PAR P10000 V800, which uses the Linux native dm-mpio to manage multi-pathing.
Can PowerPath and dm-mpio coexist on the same Linux Server? The PowerPath would manage the VMAX devices and the dm-mpio would manage the 3PAR LUNs.
I read in another Forum posting from "Conor" that PowerPath can coexist on the same Linux platform with "other multi-path software" if they each have their own HBAs. Of course, I can't do that. I need them to coexist with the same 2 HBAs zoned to both Arrays.

Here is a note from PP for Linux installation guide:
PowerPath is not compatible with the native Linux device
mapper (DM-MPIO). Configuring both products on the same
host can cause system instability. EMC recommends that you do
not configure the native device mapper on a host on which
PowerPath will be installed.
you could use dm-mpio to manage both 3par and EMC storage, of course dm-mpio is not Powerpath when it comes to load-balancing ..but it's an option.
