Powerpath does not see HW path and I/O path
Here is the partial output I see when I run the powermt display dev=all command
Pseudo name=emcpowerd
Symmetrix ID=000xxxxxxxx
Logical device ID=0A3B
state=alive; policy=SymmOpt; priority=0; queued-IOs=1;
==============================================================================
--------------- Host --------------- - Stor - -- I/O Path -- -- Stats ---
### HW Path I/O Paths Interf. Mode State Q-IOs Errors
==============================================================================
7 UNKNOWN unknown FA 7eA active alive 0 0
7 UNKNOWN unknown FA 8eA active alive 1 0
8 UNKNOWN unknown FA 10eA active alive 0 0
8 UNKNOWN unknown FA 9eA active alive 0 0
This is a VMAX device mounted on a RHEL host.
Any ideas as to why this is happening. The device is working perfectly. It is in production....
How can I rectify this issue and make powerpath show me the paths.

Hi. Were you running the powermt display with the "every" option?
Can you try running "powermt restore" and "powermt config"?
Thanks, Brion

The OS on this server is Linux 2.6.18 and I ran the powermt display dev=all command and pasted the info of the device that has issue.
I tried powermt config, restore, check, save and all I can think of....
Nothing worked to fix this...

I had a similar scenario with hp-ux 11.23 and Vmax. But running discovery(ioscan , isnf) and power path commands got it working. You may have to do the equivalent commands in Linux, twise Hopefully it come up

I talked to the CS and they want me to reboot the system.... (I am going to try this option in the next few days and will update you guys on the status)
Scanned for new devices multiple times... Always comes with a message, no changes found

Reboot fixed the problem.... There was an underlying host issue.
