Powerpath tuning for specific environments

Hi  Guys

Some qustions of powerpath tuning for specific environments , your help is appreciated

- What is the default time slot which Powerpath consider a path is dead?

- Is any parameter tuning for Powerpath for "PathRetryInterval"  & "PathRetryCount" ?

- If so , what is the default setting of them?

Details:

PathRetryInterval : Setting specifies the interval of time after a failed request is retried.

PathRetryCount : Setting specifies the number of times a failed I/O if the Powerpath determines taht a failing request must be tried.

Hello,

None of the timing parameters in PowerPath can be configured.  Instead you can tune the HBA parameters.  See the Host Connectivity Guide for your operating system for recommendations in an EMC environment.

PowerPath tests idle/alive buses periodically.  Approximately every 30 - 60 seconds.

Individual alive paths that are servicing an IO request will go dead immediately when an IO fails.

Hope this helps

Please be advised with the release of PP6.0 there are some performance tuning that can be done within PP.

See the release notes and CLl guides for your OS.

Path retry timeout and all paths dead retry timeout. There are also enhancements to write throttle and throttle queue
