Chaining two SAS Tapes

Hi,

I have two PowerVault LTO-4-120HH Tapes Drives (IBM) witch are installed in a Dell PowerVault 114x enclosure. My idea was to chain them with the following schema:

Server --> Tape 1 Sas port 1

Tape 1 Sas port 2 --> Tape 2 Sas port 1

The problem is that my centos server doesn't detect the second Tape. Nothing appears on DMESG or when doing a lsscsi.

Is there something I should do in order to chain both tapes? I tried to find a manual to do that but I couldn't find anything.

 I also red that some people doesn't recommend to chain tapes... Any one knows the reason why?

Thanks,

Daniel.

SAS Cabled devices do not support daisy chaining, , you would need a Y cable, something like this: www.elpeus.com/external-mini-sas-cables-sff8088-to-2-sff8088-c-6_43_116.html
