Compatibility of SCSI device in NX3000

Hi, folks

My company has recently purchased a NX3000. I wish to transfer a SCSI card, a GD31244 Serial-ATA PCI-X Host Adaptor from our PowerVault 745n to the NX3000.

The card is presently used to attach a SCSI Ultrium tape drive.

I am wondering about the card's compatibility with the NX3000's BIOS and the Windows Server 2008 OS.

Has anyone else used this card with this device/OS?

Thanks

You could look at the LSI 20320IE card. It lists a Windows 2008 driver download.

The NX3000 is basically a PowerEdge R710, which means there are no PCI-X slots. You'll have to upgrade to a PCIe SCSI card. Dell offers an LSI model for this.

Thanks again for answering :)

I have been in contact with Dell Support about this and it looks as though there may be an issue with the driver. The NX3000 runs Windows Server 2008 64bit. The best match Support can find for the NX3000 (PE R710) is a 2032 card <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>. However, latest drivers for the 2032 card are only available for Windows Server 2003. Support say that the difference between W2k3 and W2k8 is such that there is no guarantee the product will work.

Has anyone else managed to get this card working with Windows Storage Server 2008?

Thanks for the help so far.

Wow - that looks like it will fit the bill. I will discuss it with Support and see what their take is on it.

I am indebted to you for your help.

Thank you very much.

I've now discussed this with Dell Support and they are quite happy with it.

Thanks again! :)

And, today it was installed - everything fine:

Card recognised, card BIOS appeared.

Shutdown to attach Quantum Ultrium 3 tape drive, rebooted, LSI device BIOS listed Quantum drive and drive appeared in Windows Device Manager.

Thanks again for the superb help :)
