Dell MD3000i and Backup Exec
We have recently purchased the snapshot feature on the Dell MD3000i and would like to leverage the Backup Exec software to do an offhost backup up of a file system that resides on the MD3000i. I have installed the VSS provided by Dell as recommended by Symantec but it is still failing on Backup Exec. Symantec tech is thinking it might have something to do withthe Storage Management VSS provider but i cannot get any support from Dell since they only support the Dell Storage Management software.
Does anybody have any thoughts or information regarding offhost backup using Backup Exec and the MD3000i?

Have you installed the SMprovider software from the MDSM CD ?

Yes. I can see the snapshot on MD3000i Module Disk Storage Manager when I initialize the backup from Backup Exec but failes with an error saying it can't be transported and needs a manual resynchronization on the volume.
