Dell PowerVault NAS Operating System Reinstall

Question

I have a PowerVault NX 3100 I am trying to rebuild from scratch.  The documentation says to use the Dell PowerVault NAS Operating System Reinstall CD however I don't have that.  I've looked at the driver and software downloads but nothing stands out  to rebuild the OS with Windows Storage Server 2008.  Has anyone done this before?  Where do I download a recovery CD?

Hello tfharris,

If you can’t find your reinstall media then you will need to contact support and they can create some new media & send it out to you. Please note that you will need a valid support contract on the system in order for Dell to send out the media.

I have contacted the dell but they told me to contact the local distributor to get the Dell PowerVault NAS Operating System Reinstall CD, but the distributor does not have that CD. I have to ask who else?

The OS reinstall CD is not listed on the support site for downloading. I am going to send you a private message. Can I get you to respond with the service tag of your NX3100 so that I can look into this issue for you?

Hi, I'm also looking for assistance with the same issue. I have a clients NX3100 appliance I need to factory restore and have approached the local agent (Hilal), however, that could take some time and I need to recover the unit this week. Can I download the following:

Dell PowerVault NAS Operating System Reinstall

Service Tag and COA available, and I believe client just extended warranty on the unit.

If your System is still under warranty & we can verify that, then in most cases we can replace the media. If the system is not under warranty, then in most cases we will not be able to replace the media.

Welcome to the Dell Community!

As it has been previoulsy commented on the topic, only if your PowerVault NX400 is still under warranty the media can be replaced. But if the system is not under warranty, then in most cases we will not be able to replace the media.

Please, could you confirm us: Is your NX400 under warranty?
