Is it okay to install backup exec on NX3200

Question

Hello,

I do have a backup server running backup exec and using ISCSI NAS NX3200 for storage,

NX3200 is actually a DELL PE R720 Server with win 2008R2 storage edition.

Can I simply add NX3200 to my domain, install backup exec directly and possibly connect my robotic library (Dell Power Vault TL4000) to it.

Your best bet is to check the Hardware Compatibility List for the version of Backup Exec that is being used.   www.symantec.com/.../TECH205797

Thanks for the reply, but what I want to ask here is

1. About OS - Does the NAS contains standard win 2008r2 storage edition or is it a hardened OS and either will not allow me to install BE or may be considered as licensing breach.

2. About SAS controller : does the NAS have a built-in card to support the robotic library or Can I purchase one separately and add.

Hello Beadmin,

With the NX3200 you can install backup exec onto the windows OS. Also you will need to get a SAS card for your tape library & put it into your NX3200 so that you can connect the tape library to your NX3200.
