New to SAN/Clustering - what goes in the server?

We're thinking of setting up a 2-node cluster for our exchange nad sql setups, and I've been looking into SAN - a lot of it was out of budget really, but iScsi based stuff seems cheaper. I'm thinking we can use something like an MD3000i for our cluster storage (and other data too), but what goes in the servers? When I run through the config screens, all I see is fibre channel stuff, not IP based ones. Does it simply work through the network cards, or is some other bit of kit needed? Thanks!

Yes, iSCSI simply works over the IP network, independent of whether the connection is through a plug-in card or LAN On Motherboard (LOM).

For Windows Microsoft supplies a software iSCSI Initiator that can be freely downloaded, no additional hardware is required.

Thanks Dave, I was hoping it would be along those lines!

I would recommend having 2 Gigabit adapters dedicated for iSCSI traffic isolated from your public network.

Thanks - I agree, that makes sense to me!
