Hello SimonHan,
Thanks for the drive dump log as it helps to see what errors the drive is giving. After looking at the drive dump log I can see that you are getting a clutch engagement failure. When we see this error the first thing that we look for is to see if the error is happening on a single media or multiple media. I can see that the error is happening on many media. With the error happening on many media I would say that the drive is needed to be replaced.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hello Craig,
Thanks for the drive dump log. What I am seeing in the logs is that you are getting Media C2 uncorrectable errors. When we see this error we always check to see if the error is happening on a single media or multiple media. In your case I am seeing this happen on multiple media. How old is your media? If your media is new then, I would say the issue is with your drive.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi,
I thought it may be the media, so I tried new media and it did the same with them.
Is there a list of compatible LTO5 drives available for the TL2000, my reseller is only able to find a refurbished replacement?
Thanks

We have only validated our tape drives, which are probably not going to be found new.

I've had a refurbished tape drive sent out which has been fitted and worked for a couple of weeks and is now doing the same thing, marking old and new media as bad.
Where do I go from here? I have sent log dumps again

Hello Craig,
Thanks for the drive dump log. Looking at the log I can see that 000050L5 needs to be removed as it is giving a media error. I am also seeing some uncorrectable media errors as well as some servo bottom sensor error messages. How old is the media that you are using in your drive? If the media is over 3 years old I would try to use some newer media to see if you get the same error. If you do get the same error, then I would suspect the drive needs to be replaced.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Same issue with TL4000 and two LTO6 drives.
One of these drives tells "Invalid cartridge" on every media loaded. The other let backup job running for hours until, i guess, the end of media. After about 2 TB of data is written on tape, commvault job fails with error:
"Backup pending: failed to close Metadata file for error [-1]."
and the media is marked as bad. We have about 20 tapes marked bad at this moment. Drives (3580) and library have the latest firmware installed.
Could you please review our dumps?
